       AIM:
       This workshop will equip participants to use two modelling tool to analyze heat transfer in
       building envelope designs. THERM is a software that analyzes two-dimensional heat transfer through building assemblies. This workshop will enable participants to calculate thermal bridges (using THERM and Excel) for use in the Passive House Design Package (PHPP).
       COURSE CONTENT:
       After training participants will be able to:
       • Review and analyze examples of various building envelope connections
       • Optimize building envelope details
       • Problem solve unique cases such as window installations, thermal bridges and different
       foundation types
       • Identify proper inputs and outputs of THERM software
       • Apply a theoretical approach to thermal bridging as it relates to Passive Houses and the
       PHPP in both new build and retrofits
       Trainee Profile:
       Good computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Excel. Ability to read building plans and knowledge of typical construction methods.

       Duration: 1 day
